If you want to get a novel to read, or you are looking for a history book, why bother going to book shops when you can get them for free with a little bit of adventure! If you have books that you have read and are happy to give away, you can swap them through the book swapping sites such as Read It Swap It (http://readitswapit.co.uk/).
On their website you can list your available books and browse books others are giving away and exchanges via Royal Mail.
Or if you want to go for a book hunt go to http://www.bookcrossing.com, with thousands of books ‘in the wild’ in the UK and around the world – even one in International Waters! People have left their books for someone to find in places like park benches, shopping centres and gyms. These books have been registered in the system so their travel across the world can be followed. On the website you will find instructions on where a book has been left, and instructions on how to release your old books to the world for others to enjoy.
And don’t forget local libraries for access to countless books, CDs and DVDs.
